Our Pastor

Pastor Lawson has served in the ministry for over 34 years. He grew up in a Christian home, and came to know Christ as his personal Saviour when he was 10 years of age. His parents were missionaries to the island of Jamaica. Pastor Lawson served with them for about 5 years during his latter teen years.

Pastor Lawson went to Bible College and earned his B.A.   He also has a Doctorate of Sacred Music from Midwestern Baptist Bible College in Orion, MI. He traveled as an evangelist for fifteen years. He has been a guest speaker in Bible Conferences, Revivals, and has provided special music as well through the years. He has served as Interim Pastor of two churches, Associate Pastor of his home church, and pastor of the Glory Light Baptist Church in Siloam, NC. He gave up the pastorate in NC to move to Washington with his family to plant Beacon Baptist Church in Gig Harbor in March of 2012. 

New Heights Baptist Church extended the call to Dr. Lawson to become their pastor after their former pastor, Dr. Harold Venable, went to be with the Lord in October of 2018. Dr. Lawson assumed the pastorate on April 7, 2019.
